Hi all,
Doing some research trying to find out what year engine I have. When I Got it I was told it's a 351w, But the block numbers say it's a 69-70 (302) Numbers on block are (c80e 6015b) Under the valve cover stamped on top side of head in between pushrods number (351 9f21). Any ideas?
Thank's, Confussed!!!!!
Moonshine,
It sounds like a 68+ 302 with 69 351w heads (larger valves). A common thing to do on the cheap if you can't afford after market heads (or before they were available).

Thank's, That's what I was thinking! I didmt build the engine and they didn't seem to cut any corners elseware so they must of had a reason. Thank's again,Larry
You may want to remove one head bolt and check it. The reason being that the 302 used 7/16 " dia. bolts & the 351W used 1/2 '' bolts. If you have 7/16 thread then the block is a 302. Also at that time you should see if the eng. builder used either the aftermarket bolts with a 1/2 shoulder & 7/16 thread or the 'stepped' style washers (ie, Edelbrock 9680). If not there isn't anything to keep the head in alignment with the block except the two dowel pins. Even they may be to small in dia. I can't recall for certain, it's been quite some time.
