Got a problem with my 76 Pinto's heater. This vehicle has stock AC. Heater hoses were disconnected by previous owner, I reconnected them, no leaking, but there is a vacuum valve in the hose, and I think it died. I'm not getting any heat, no matter what setting I put the valve, so I'm thinking that it may be the lever that adjusts from cold to hot. It is rusted up, and very stiff, and I do not believe it is moving whatever it is connected to.
Can someone provide me with a diagram or really GOOD instructions on how to manually open that door/gate/whatever that cable is connected to? Also, I also need to know what position the vacuum valve needs to be in to provide coolant to the heater core. It was in the down position when I looked at it.
Thanks, and a prompt reply would be helpful. IT IS COLD OUT HERE! :)
Do you hear any air leak ? Is there 1 of these disc behind control panel laying on tunnel ? Fred :)
my heater hasnt been working in years Im going to follow this thread. Does anyone know a good source for a schematic of the whole heating system?
Dont hear any air leaks, and I have not seen one of those discs, I do know the cable that adjusts the temperature is probably not working.
See red arrow you will move that arm to get heat. This model A/C is like yours I have A/C evac pump hooked up to make sure all doors work as selected before I ship unit. Fred :)
Opened up the valve, and I got heat. But, the heater core leaks, so I have to disconnect it again, and suffer.
