Hello, I was wondering if anyone has tried to stuff a 4.6 liter into a pinto? I have a 4.6 liter sitting around and a pinto with a bad motor. Can any body think of any major problems. Thoughts or ideas welcome. Thanks Tim
I remember reading a spec that the 4.6, not sure exactly which, was 4" wider than a 460. If that's true, then the 4.6 would be a real chore to put in, I would think. I'm sure it would also depend on what year pinto is it. An early one will probably not like it too much, but a later one...that might be a good time.
I'm going with the 2.3 turbo swap since it's pretty easy, will keep the car somewhat balanced and because I know the 2.3s pretty well at this point.
if it'll fit in a mustang II it will fit in a Pinto!

Wow...! That has to be a freakin' scary ride! It doesn't even look that tight, so yeah... I guess it might be easier than I thought!
Very cool car, nice pics too.
Rule of thumb: ANY engine will fit in ANY car......just be prepared to spend the cash! ;D
I seen a 540CI big block Chev with a 14-71 supercharger in a Chevy Sprint.....so anything is possable!
BUT !
this engine weights 700lb !!!!
So your weight distrobution would be 70/30 ?
first turn you take in the rain should be real interesting.
p.s. that little chevy was uncontrolable the engine is in a corvette kit car now(saw that THING at The Turkey Rod Run over thanksgiving in daytona beach.
when you do cars like that...there not meant for rain, or cornering for that matter. Straight line acceleration!
Im in the middle of putting a 500ci caddy in a pinto. All you need is a sazall and a welder.
