Title: 80 Pinto questions
Post by: waldo786 on June 17, 2012, 09:46:10 PM
I was looking at an 80 Pinto without A/C.  Wondering how hard it is to retrofit these with A/C if they didn't have it originally.  Just about to start this project in my '66 Mustang but they make kits for that  :D   Also, does the rear seat fold down in the hatchbacks? (I'm assuming it does but figured I'd check.  The '76 wagon we have it does.)  Also wondering if the hot pants body kits would fit an 80? (I think all the body styles are the same if I'm not mistaken).  Last question is about an A4LD - the overdrive c3 transmission, and are you able to bolt one of these up the 2.3L engines?  Thanks!

yes and yes except the front spoiler (side skirts and rear spats fit and rear louver fits trunk and hatchback)

The A4LD is the same Transmission and was used in The Thunderbird Turbocoupe and some Ford Rangers check the flexplate and ensure the bellhousing is right some of the flexplates fail. Check with the rangerstation. com for some info about the A4LD. If you can find the A/C heater box a 1980 Ford Pinto your going to be happy because it will bolt right in, if you find an other year 77 and down it might not fit. The after market has some good systems but they are pricey.

Good information, Thank you!!  I'll check out the rangerstation site and see what I can dig up!
