Title: Gold Master cylinder
Post by: DreamBean on March 20, 2012, 03:45:53 PM
Today I get home in the 80 only to see the hood up on the 76, Son says brake fluid is leaking at the pedal. DANG!! OK, So I start calling around and some nut says he can get me one for the 80 too,(It's real weak) The one for the 76 is about 40 bucks, The one for the 80 is over $100. he said the 80 master cylinder is longer. I have never heard of this and I have been messing with Pintos for Years. The last one I bought for the 80 was about $40 and that was over 4 years ago. I love going fast but I gotta stop sometimes. Or at least I like to. Anyway, Does anyone know if it is true that the Brake Master cylinders are that different? A manual brake master cylinder? The guy is just lucky that we were on the phone, Cause I sure would have made a big scene. BUTT! I did tell him where he could place that golden Brake master cylinder.

He is a liar. I checked & the same part number applies for a 76 and & an 80. No reason why they would be so mcuh different. The remans are only about 30 bux & that is on the high side.

Pinturbo, Thanks,I have wriiten that down and now have that in my repair book. That's great info

Phils toys, I did that after I talked with the guy at the parts store. The problem was that it was O'reilly that said it was over a $100

r4pinto, I know, I guess what realy made me mad was when I told him he was wrong and he told me to come by and look at his computer.

UPDATE: After the wife called and yelled at the manager, He looked into the issue and called her back begging me to come back and he would make it worth my time. I just don't know if I can trust them. Anyway, I went to Advance auto parts and picked one up for under 30 bucks. Sorry for the rant. It's just that stupid counter parts people Piss me off. That's way I HATE Autozone.

SMH... Autozone... Anything but customer oriented. I once stood in line for 10 minutes for a tool because nobody else had it & I needed it to finish a job. They didn't care. Still wouldn't stop answering the phone or come up from the back to help.

no worries, my favorite "stupid counter parts people" story... I need an air cleaner for a 1977 Pinto then I get asked if it's points or electonic ignition? repeat I need an air cleaner for a 1977 Ford Pinto... repeat is that points or.... I walked out  ;)

Wow that makes as much sense as asking for the engine size to get a headlight.
