Does anyone here use hood pins on their Pinto, hot rod or not? If so, do you have pictures?
I have considered it in the past, but now that dropping a V8 in the car is more and more becoming a reality, I am considering putting them in now (one less task later), since the hood latch location will be an issue when I move the radiator to the other side of the support, right?
EDIT: Not trying to use this as an excuse, but my hood latch has gone bad twice. Once back in the 80's when my dad used to drive it. The hood came up on the freeway (was only up to 45 at the time), but went back far enough to bend the hinges and in turn it mangled the cowl (still not repaired). The second time was about four years ago when my ex used to drive the car. She shut the hood but it refused to stay latched, was replaced with a used junk yard unit (so far it's holding well).
hey yah i thought long and hard about what to do on mine with the fiberglass hood and i hated the idea of plain ol hood pins. Since i couldn't come up with a safe and neat solution, i plan on going the road most traveled and put in pins. Its not what i wanted but its better than the hood flying up at any speed! LOL! Best thing i can say is use a stainless setup and stay away from the "locking" type. They are just for locking and have very little strength.

I won't be using hood pins on my Squire. I had a radiator built that will fit within the radiator support so I can retain the original latch. I have some figuring to do as fat as an electric fan but it will have to go on the front side of the radiator.
I was considering the custom radiator thing to but I am on a tight budget.
I like the look of hood pins on mustangs, not sure about pintos though, i can't imagine it much though.
Ya I don't care for hood pins...look kinda cheesy, even on cars that had them from the factory. The radiator wasn't cheap. $500 after shipping and taxes.
