I believe that Esslinger makes a manifold to run 2 Weber 48mm sidedrafts on the 2.3, but the question I have is, why ya wanting to run a different carb? The 350 and 500 cfm Holley 2 bbls work nice, and I have seen a few 390 and 450 Holley 4 bbls on 2.3's. If ya can, run the Fuel Injection setup on it, works like a dream.

Every holley I've had has alway's had problem's missing and bad gas mileage. I have yet to see one function correctly.  I am a ford liker but I hate to admit that there carb's are junk from my experience.  I seen a 318 mopar run holley carb, missed and spuddered, even with a rebuild kit in it, then replaced it with a rochester carb and not a lick of problem with it.  Motor ran better, better gas mileage, and less wear and tear on the starter.  The only thing I can think of is the neoprin float's in a holley could be screwing things up, does holley run brass floats, maybe that might cure most of the problem.  I am not sure since I am not too familar with carbs.

Holley carbs are not the greatest. The one in my old pinto however never gave me any problems other than the acclerator pump.

If your going to another to carb manufacture i would suggest Demon carbs. I have had them on couple diffrent cars and they perform flawlessy.

I HATE F'IN HOLLEYS!! >:(   I had a Holley on one of my old 5.0 mustangs and tryed forever to get it to work right. Finally I took it off (went right into the trash can...really, it did!) and got a brand new Edelbrock. Put the new carb on stright out of the box and the car ran like a dream. I've always used Edelbrock or Carter and I will NEVER use anything else. I plan on using an EFI lower intake and putting a 4bbl Carter on it for my 2.3 carbed Ranger.

By the way for you ford lover's that think holley don't make ford's carbs.  I always new holley, autolite and motorcraft made interchangeble carb's, now here is why.
You know that motorcraft tag you see on the top, open the carberator up and look inside the bowl, you will see in big letter's but hidden, the word HOLLEY. :o :o

Yeah that was one of things that suprised me about my old pinto. I bought a Carb Rebulid kit, opned the carb and seen Holley. That made me look for bigger jets and low and behold they were there. Still never got that damn accelrator pump working.  >:(

I've heard that Weber 38/38 is an excellent upgrade. But, they'll cost ya three weeks pay.  Mucho Denero!!!!

Nope, Weber isn't made by Holley, although they have gotten together to make a couple of carbs. Holleys can be a pain in the butt, but I got lucky and my old man was a whiz at 'em, and he taught me a lot about 'em. He's the same one that showed me how to do a lil "magic" on the Webers also...

I Almost go insane When people say Edelbrock Like Eldebrock! >:(
Just so ya know!

 8) I run a 390 holley on my 2.3 and the only problem I have is blowing the power valve all the time, other wise it's been a very good carb. Who needs mileage when you ran full throttle all the time !!! ;D

A good fix for the Power Valve blowing out is to put a Power Valve plug in the carb, and re-jet 2 steps higher. Might just help ya out...
