Since I am doing the AK Miller turbo install I thought it was time to make a NEW pannel and weld it in to replace the rusted Battery area on my 1972 Purple Pinto.
I also did some wet sanding on my engine bay.
Bet you can't tell what color my Purple Pinto used to be!!! ;D

Hello Group,
I have been reading the posts about restoring a Pinto costing 15,000.00
While this is mostly true. I want everyone to know that  I have been working on my Purple Pinto for 10 years. I sheared the flywheel off the engine in 1999 and have been slowly collecting parts to complete the rebuild since. So my money has been spread out through the years.
I'm not rich I work hard for my money like everyone else.
Here is a better photo of the Ghost flames on my Purple Pinto

I plan to be there but I don't know if the Pinto will be road worthy for the drive up from Festus. I still need to do some tune up work and fix a couple of things. I was underneath it most of today checking things out. If you have a left front fender I could use one.

That is a very nice car. Those 70s colors like that seemed to be kind of metallic.....mine is the same way except it is copper. Makes me consider painting it that original green color, or repainting it the same color it is now. My paints shiney like yours is, but the paints been scraped off in alot of places, and is scratched and all that. You can see a pic or two of mine in the "you pintos" section as "james' pinto" or something like that. The cam isnt a real good one so it doesnt show it as nice as it is, but its an idea. Great work on the purple one. I am working on my 76 kinda customizing and kindof resto-modding it as you did on yours. (2.3L Turbo, T5, 8" [probably end up with a  9"] 3.55 positrac with 4 wheel disc brakes, p/s, p/b, a/c, and good cd player/stereo system on mine is my goal!) Are you going to carlisle in june? Whens this meeting in ST. L that was mentioned? Was that the show we talked about in branson/st.l/tulsa several months ago? Let me know if you know, id love to see whichever car you have out there. I'll be in my 76 likly, soon i am getting a 77 but i have to work on getting a title for it first.

Hey pintoguy76,
There are no plans as of now to have the Ford Pinto National Meet in St Louis that I know of.
There is talk of having in Branson Missouri next year.

I like the Cool 70's colors too I saw a SWEET Gold Pint near the end of "The Betsey" that aired on the Speed channel early this mmonth.
I sold a 74 Lime green Pinto to Mornblade. I tried 3 times to get the original Green paint at the local paint shop.
It always turned out too gold.
House of colors may be able to match the paint BUT it would cost plenty.

I will have my Purple Pinto in Carlisle Pa  in june.

I have plans to attend the Knotts Berry Farm show in California too.
BUT that trip will depend on money.
I I can find a Pinto in Ca. by the time the show I will just fly out and drive my new purchase home.
If not I'll just drive my Purple Pinto. Again it depends on money that I have available at that time.

Branson is an hour from me. I'm in springfield. Where did you try to have the paint matched at? Oreillys? Thats where i'd go probably. Problem is i dont have a car to match the paint to. LOL.  I see paint chips on ebay some would that work? If not i may just try to match the original color of my car. Also considered black with two red racing stripes across the top front front to back. I just cant make up my mind! The 77 im getting is white. Im not crazy about white and even tho the paint is nice on it i might paint it black with red and repaint my 76 the original color. Then i need another pinto for solid red like i want too. LOL. Before im done ill have a different car for every day of the week lol. I have that same car collecting disease that somone in the board here has mentioned before. LOL. I hope to see you and the purple pinto at carlisle!

Hello pintoguy76,
Not Orieleys!!! O.O.O.O.Order IT!!!!! ;D
My local napa has paint.
I live in a very small town and there is no Orieleys for 25 miles.

I love white Pintos!!!!
They look great W/ blacked out grills and taillight pan.
Maybe a mostly blacked out hood Too.
Not totally black because the it looks cheep. Leave 2-2.5 inches at the sides white.
Folowed by a 1/8 to 5/32 stripe about 1/4" away from the black/
Or a cool 3 color stripe swoosh combo looks cool on white TOO!
White is the perfect canvas for paint.
AND IT IS CHEEPER!!!!!!
Yes See you at the Pinto NATS!!!!!!

Pintony,
The wheels on your Purple Pinto look like American Racing Torq Thrust D's. Am I correct? What size are you running and what size tires. Looks like the setup I had in mind for my Wagon.. Funny thing is, I was just talking to the guy about doing ghost flames...(laughing)
