Has anyone added a cruise control to your Pinto. Was wondering what type was used. I found one for 250.00, it has the screw in type turn signal controls that replace the existing lever. The sensors are 4 magnets on the drive shaft with a pick up sensor.
Years ago you could get a part that goes between the speedo cable and speedo gauge.
Any other suggestions. ???
I think I saw a '76 Bobcat with a factory cruise on the turn signal arm. If so, you might be able to use a stock Ford application transplanted in your Pinto.
Just a thought.
Just use a stick wedged between the seat and the gass pedal. ;D ;D ;D
Ok, if you realy want a cruise control go to your nearest after market shop and ask them.I install cruises for a living. The best after market cruise is the Rostra electronic kit, part number 250-1316.There are several different arms that can be added. You will also need a magnut kit or a signal generater for sensing the speed. It works great for most cars.I used to have one on my car,but it didn't work to good with the turbo,it surged to much. The company i work for charges about $280 installed.Well good luck.
That's the brand that was quoted to me, with the magnet kit and a replacement turn signal arm. Any chance you could get me a better deal for the parts?
This was a good question. I plan on installing a cruise control on my Pinto as well. I plan to install it my self. If I am going to regular the Pinto meets in the future then I,m sure as heck not going to be pushing a gas pedal for hours on end. I like the magnetic pickup on the driveshaft thing.....it sounds like an active system. I will be noting input on this subject.

Hey Hoots check with JC Whitney they carey some cruise's.With the company policy it;s hard for me to buy from them. There afraid that i might make a proffit and they wont.
I understand, I used to be on the inside of the stereo industry. Thanks anyway though.
it wouldn't be too hard to transplant the factory cruse from a tbird when doing a 2.3 swap. if you were transfering all the drive components over already it would just be a matter of making sure that you transfered the cruse control components after the swap was done. I'm going to have to look into this when I get around to doing my swap.
