Well, after finding my pinto had severe rust damage I started to look around for it's replacement... That's when I found a 1977 Pinto sedan.. It's for $400 and needs some tranny work. The body's in good shape, less the driver door so I'm gweek from Saturday... Already got a buddy of mine to help with the towning of it... Here's a few pix of it...

last... not bad for $400 so I'm pleased so far... I'm gonna transfer the parts from the 78 onto the 77 so I'm still using what I had put into the 78... Hopefully she'll be ready for the Carlisle Ford show.
nice find Matt. So the Mean Green Machine is no more, you now have the (I think anyway that is a bronze) Bronze Burly Bucket?
yeah, she is no more :'(... Now, a moment of silence for the fallen.... May she live among the big Pinto dealer in the sky... Atleast she will live on through my next Pinto.
I haven't decided what to call it yet...maybe the bronze bomb....
I'll letcha know once I get it driveable...lol
Hey R4,
Did you have your Green Pinto's organ donor card filled out???? ;D
Nice Score on the Root Beer Pinto
From pintony
lol... no, but I did notify her next of kin...lol Atleast the tranny from it will be put to good use... Thanx on your comment on my replacement Pinto.. It should drive nicely once I drain the tranny fluid or change the tranny, whatever's needed.
Good for you R4, I'm sure this one will be a cakewalk, it seem's you learned alot from the green machine. Another Pinto back on the road, it seems to take 2 to make 1, at least in my case :)
Thanx.. I know what youre saying about learning on this one, as I've really learned alot about these cars from the green machine... All parts I bought for it will transfer to the 77 as well as the rally steering wheel, and the rear defrost circuit as well.. I figure I might as well personalize the 77 to make it mine.. I'm just looking forward to picking it up so I can get it ready to go to Carlisle in June..
Sad though... one back on the road, but another off the road at the same time. :-\
Guys thanx for all your support with the Pinto I'm getting. As of Saturday 5/7/05 it will be officially mine. A buddy I work with is helping me pick it up that day, so then I'll have a Pinto that's not meant for the junk yard.
Then I can start swapping out the parts I'm gonna use. YAY!!!!
Picked up the car today... the doors are gonna need replaced, as is the rf fender, which I have a good one on my parts car... Other than that it's in good shape, body wise... started it up when I got it home after getting a little gas.. The tranny does not go into any gear, & I'm thinking it's possibly a lack of fluid.. Checked it with the car running & it didn't even register on the dip stick... Gonna change the filter & pan gasket tomorrow after work & see if it goes into gear.. If not, the tranny from my parts car will go in..I'll have pix posted soon.
Changed the pan gasket, and sure enough, no fluid... went ahead & put a new filter on the tranny, & accidentally overfilled it, so tomorrow I gotta drain about .5- 1 quart, but man, it shifts really good.... As I was driving it I figured the car has a bad master cylinder as I could pump up the brakes & get them to work.... More to come soon.
Changed the master cylinder, but no dice... still no good pedal. I noticed the RF brake pads are worn more than the LF & the wheel cylinders leak.. I'm gonna be getting my parts car out of storage tomorrow so I can take off all the brakes, carb, & anything else I need off it.
Man, it has been a while since I have updated this post. :hypno:
Anyways, I had worked on the car until it got too cold out around november, so it has sat in storage since then waiting for warm temperatures. As I previously stated I found bad brakes & got them fixed, even though I needed a brake rotor. Just got that so it's going on the car to get it stopping flawlessly. It has no air in the system, so it's got a glld solid pedal. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take it to Carlisle last year, but she will be there this year.
With some good help from Quickrick I was able to get more parts for my car so it will be safe. Rotor, radiator core support, & soon rear axle. I bought a leaf spring off him to replace the broken one I found around September last year & it handles pretty good. I had to replace the tires as they were shot so they're good now. The carb's shot, so I bought a rebuild kit & rebuilt the one from the parts car. I just gotta adjust it & replace the choke & all will be well. I got some nice interior parts for it & will be installing them probably tomorrow, as well as changing the tranny fluid & engine oil, so all will be fresh & safe.
More updates & pix coming soon. :fastcar:

more pix. Look at that nice pcca sticker in the window.
my modded mustang II console. Not perfect, but I like it. Not to mention a cup holder I installed in the console bin.
I started to primer the rear quarter after grinding off some surface rust & chipped paint. the other shot is my cowl repair. it had chipped paint & surface rust.
