Hey West Coasters. The Good Guys Autumn Get Together is on Nov 12, 13 in Pleasanton at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. All years American and American powered. I want to try the Autocross this year!!
Joe
Hi Joe: If the weather holds out, I'll probably take the 71 to the Kar Corral. Good luck with the autocross, it was a blast to watch last year....Joe in Morgan Hill
haven't heard from paul or Mike yet. Only drag is I have to play music at the Claremont that Saturday night.

Hey I live in the area and I have never done a car show, I am 16, and I own a '80 Pinto, and I was wondering if there are different, I guess they could be called like classes? Cause my pinto isn't in show quality condition, but its pretty clean and mostly original, except for the interior, is there a way to enter it in the car show without being a joke because its not show quality?
Well, unfortunately I misjudged a corner, hit it to fast and ran my pretty orange pinto into a concrete barrier. Damage is not too bad:
Replace both fenders, both wrinkled...have parts
Have the right door dents repaired, or swap out the door...have parts
Will probably need a new left front bumper bracket from a 73, maybe the complete bumper is best
Replace grille and left parking lamp...have parts
Have the whole thing repainted....at least it will match now. Wish I hadn't spent a week fixing the fender I just crunched.
So basically, the only cash I have to spend is for the front bumper and bracket and paint. maybe around $2500 depending on where i have it painted......Ouch!
I didn't quit after that bad run though! The car was perfectly driveable, so I went back out and got back in the little pony, ran the course the right way (with an extra victory lap and crowd applause).
It was definitely fun and I'll go back when the car is ready.

Gosh, Joe... what lousy luck! On the other hand, a new 5W orange paint job will truly complete the car. Just glad you weren't hurt.
Dwayne :)
Joe where is the film from the go-pro?

Joe, are you going to autocross again? if so will you put the Big bumpers back on ??
I hate the big bumpers, but I will have the aluminum ones on my wagon when it's done. I made a silly mistake was all, and I'm willing to own it. Goin't too fast the first time out. When I went back out (I did another 3 laps to redeem myself) I did just fine. Some new sway bars will make it handle better for next year. It WAS fun anyway. maybe I wouldn't think that way if the damage was more severe, but for now I'll try it again.
Joe
Yea its not as easy as it looks. Those turns come up really fast when your behind the wheel. I found that out this summer when at Carlisle Ford Nationals auto cross this summer.I took it a little easy ,but did get the tires squealing. After the race I had to drive my car 900 miles back home.
Well I got the fenders on before the rain we're supposed to get tonight. Just have to strip off the rest of the factory side mouldings....ouch, and go get a body repair estimate.
Joe, Ohh mann.. I just saw your video. I was checking out the video setting on the site and did not realize what was coming... WACK!... Wow!..
Looks like you are getting things back together- need to keep that Orange Pinto alive, It's Famous- 40th Famous!
Scott
Hey Scott,
Got the replacement fenders on already. Bought a beautiful front bumper from Kim (Pintogirl) today as well as another straight hood I may use instead of mine. Here's the video of the second round I did after the crash.
