Well a few weeks ago I picked up a 72 Runabout w/ 24K miles, it started smoking, (turns out the valve seals had slid up the valve stems and off the guides), I just pulled the engine, freshened it up including decking the block 0.055" to get the compression up, and added a small Crower cam, well I finished up the engine last night and put it back in today, long day (due to the headerand exhaust not fitting like it did on my 73) but took it out tonght for a drive/break in the engine, needs to be tuned still, but it has more power then it did before. I'll finished up tuning it and checking everything tomorrow, then off for a drive ;D
Well I drove it around for a couple hundred miles to break it in and then put it on the dyno for the final tuning, I had it pretty close, just backed off the timing to 9 advanced and advanced the cam 2-3 degrees, running it in second gear to keep the C-4 from shifting it made 97.56hp @5500rpm and 106.61 foot lbs @ 4000 rpm's, it makes over 90hp from 4600rpm to 6700rpm where I shut it down, and made over 90 foot lbs from 3000 to 5500rpm, not bad for 2nd gear pulls, pulls in 3rd would have shown more...
Sweet! You really need to get some pictures of it up here! People here are just itching to see what a Treasure Valley Special Pinto is! :D (it's a beauty folks, I got to see it in person!)
