Was wondering if anyone could help. We have a 73 wagon that has some rust on the gas tank. I have found a tank locally for sale, but its from a 79 wagon. Does anyone know if a 79 wagon tank work on a 73 wagon. I have been looking for a while and cant find one for a 73 wagon. Any suggestions or help would be appreicaited. Thanks.
I believe they are different but i'm sure that someone who knows will answer that question.
I know the fuel pickup/sender are different '71-'73, '74-'78 & '79-'80 so I assume the tanks have some changes as well. The sender holes are different sizes & placement as well.
Thanks, I was just hoping and wishing that it would work, lol. Its tough finding a tank for the older pintos.
Search "gas tank renu" for a local dealer. It is usually a radiator shop.
They clean out your gas tank, fix leaks, and coat the inside to prevent future rust.
I had it done on my 73 Pinto sedan. It is a little pricey, but well worth it.
Now my fuel filter stays perfectly clean for months.
Thanks
Eastwood Company has a DIY kit that cleans & seals the tank. I dont think it will seal more than pinholes but it does work.
