Here's my problem ,, I have a 73 trunk pinto its got a 8 inch mustang 11 rear end & I have a 8 1/2 rim & 295/50/15 tire . Beleave it or not it fits really well . The problem is when I hit big bumps they rub the outer fender well . It has the original shocks on it , is there any stiff shocks avalable to help me ?? I really like the way the car looks & sits with this tire combo .. Thanks for any imput before I just put smaller tires on it .
I'm not sure how to post pics on hear but I have a photobuket album under brian89stang if you want check it out .
Just don't hit any big bumps LOL..from what I can see it's really close on clearance. I haven't seen any shocks that would do what you want. A smaller tire might be the way to go. I haven't got my wagon on the road yet but I'm hoping I dont have issues with the rear tires. I am guessing the Mustang rear axle is wider.
You should investigate finding rims with a different offset.
Go to this link and scroll down to the section named "wheel tech"

This should help you determine if a wheel change is a solution.
Do the tires rub when turning into a driveway or when you hit a bump in a turn?
If so, front and rear sway bars also help because it reduces body lean.
I've had good luck in the past using trailer towing "helper" springs on the rear leafs or just adding another leaf. A relatively cheap way to go. Check PEP Boys or J.C. Whitney. It might raise the height a slight amount if your springs are already "soft" from age.

is there a differance between the shocks on the mustang ii? if not, they make bilstiens, and pro stock shocks, the pss are better, thats what im running with a pair of landrum 150# springs, you will feel like a bobble head thoe while driving it
I think we are missing the point... the tires should not rub even if you hit a bump.
You need to solve why the tires hit during normal suspension travel.
