I am brand new here and have a '79 hatchback waiting to be picked up by me (first Pinto owned).
I have read about many parts swaps based on year and hot pants kits by MAP351 and all sorts of stuff.
Can anyone tell me if I can eventually get my '79 to look like this one:

Thanks,

if you can find the kit or make the parts yourself from fiberglass, yes. From what I hear, map isn't making them anymore, not enough demand and to expensive to produce without anyone purchasing them.
You would need to find a donor 71-73 to rob the front end from (all the body forward of the firewall), as a 79 has square headlights and large grill. Also, 79 bumppers are much bigger. 71-73 have bumpers like the ones on that green car.
That is precisely the info I was hoping for. Thanks for the reply!

Glad to be of help, and hope to hear more of your project and Pinto experiances!
That picture is the first one (besides mine) with the strip down the side that I have seen, Very cool in green also...
Be aware that the bottom of the radiator support needs trimmed to fit the front pan when converting to the early one. If you use the early rear pan it will need notched for the leaf springs as well. You will need to fab your own bumper mounts too. Not major work but you will need some minor fabbing skills to pull it off.
you can get hotpants from 73turbo@gmail.com
