Title: Might part out my 76 sedan - will its driveshaft work for my wagon?
Post by: pintoguy76 on August 14, 2011, 07:52:36 PM
I am thinking of maybe parting out my 76 pony MPG. It is never driven and is in such bad shape body and interior wise. It has a 3.00 8" rear. My 74 wagon has a 6.75" rear with 3.55s which makes it bad for a turbo swap (which is planned) and bad for the highway with  no overdrive.

Can I make one of the two driveshafts work with the wagon or will I need a new driveshaft altogether?  Both cars are 4 speeds. It is just the length of the shafts that I am worried about, if the wagon shafts are longer, then the shaft from my sedan may not work. Then you throw in the fact that the wagon shaft might be the right length, but its for a 6.75" rear. So IDK?

Not selling the 74.

The 76 I wouldn't sell WITH the 8" rear (need it for the turbo swap in the 74). It's worth more in parts (the 76) than anything. Its been wrecked and got rusty floor boards on the drivers sides. Interior is rough too. Got lots of good/new(er) parts in it tho.
