Title: Hood insulation installation question
Post by: crraigbaw on August 14, 2011, 08:20:07 AM
Just purchased universal hood insulation. There are two sides, one rough and the other smooth.  I'm "assuming" the smooth side goes against the paint and that some adhesive should be used.  Can someone confirm 1) which side goes against the paint, and 2) if adhesive needs to be used, what kind (name of it)?  Thanks much in advance.

BTW - I have the original clips and bar.

i would put the smooth side down (awaqy from paint   less chance of it fraying and comming apart. my bobcat is just held in by clips. if you do use adheasive  i would just go around the outer edges and most parts stores would help get the right adheasive.

I installed the insulation on my 77bob. I had a company i found on ebay make it for me. the ruff side is facing the engine. The new one is thicker than my old one. The ruff acts like sand paper and it takes the paint off of my air cleaner every time I drive. I now put a towel on the air cleaner to protect the paint.
