What I thought was gonna be an easy day turned into a nightmare. The vent line seemed to be clogged but after a little air pressure it cleared. The main supply line from the tank is completely blocked and needs replacing. Has anyone formed one from scratch? The line on my 73 wagon makes so many turns I'm thinking it could be impossible to duplicate with a hand bender.
If the 1980 wagon is the same, I have the one off of my wagon. I'd have to check it but I'm sure it's clear. Since it now has a V8 and a 1/2" fuel line in it I won't be needing it. I couldn't imagine what shipping would be but your more than welcome to it for shipping costs. I really don't know of a good way to clear a plugged line. Something I've done in the past for short fuel lines was to use a speedo cable as an auger and run it thru a fuel line attached to a drill. You might want to give that a shot first if you have an old one. If the clog is close to either end of your fuel line it might break it up enough you can blow the line clear.
If you want bend your own lines just get them close to fit and not drag any where. But I would look a in line tube etc. They list fuel lines pre bent and ready to install... Or do a google search. Price should be around $90.00. Or you could get the brake lines sold on ebay that are easier to bend than the normal brake lines.
ok, here's what I did
The fuel line, in the wagon, make nearly impossible turns and bends. I did buy 12 feet of 5/16 steel tube, pulled out the old line and was about to start bending. I got a hairbrain idea of soaking the like in thinner just to see if by chance the line would clear. More pressure 150psi and "POP". It cleared and held all the pressure I could give it. Cleaned it up and back into the car it went. Thanks for all the help
anyone need 12 feet of 5/16 steel tube??
