Title: Has anyone used an 8" rear out of a 65ish mustang?
Post by: ahawes on August 10, 2011, 10:45:32 PM
I know it would be a 5 lug but otherwise the width seems to be 57" or 57.25". Is there any reason one of these could not be used? Would it be as easy as swapping out the axles to get 4x4.25" lug pattern?

The mustang 2 and v6 pinto 8" rears are getting hard to find!

The two things that would concern me would be the angle it sits which would affect pinion angle, and where the spring pads/mounts are located.

It technically would WORK just fine. But it may, or may not, require some minor modification to make it functional.

I have no problems with cutting off the old spring pads and welding new ones on.

Then I would just measure it really well to ensure the length won't affect anything and be sure to check pinion angle before bolting it on! :)
