Here's what I rounded up already.....
'79 Mustang Turbo longblock with forged pistons & 25K miles on it
'79 Mustang Turbo head with big oval ports
Esslinger adj. upper pulley
Esslinger 2264 hyd. cam, hi vacuum, .495 lift 226 dur. @ .050 & a set of NOS Manley followers
Offy 4 bbl. alum. intake with blocked water passage
Nascar spec 390cfm 4 bbl., straight leg boosters, 6.5in. power valves, 4 corner idle, dual feed, double pumper, no choke or horn, progressive linkage.
Ranger header with 2 1/2" pipe from the collector then a Magnaflow single into dual splitter to dual 2 1/2" all mandrel bent exhaust, 2 1/2" in/out cherry bomb style mufflers & 2 1/2" pipe out the back.
Cooling will be a 2 core Griffin aluminum 19"x 21" with an electric fan/shroud thermostat controlled.
This is all in my garage ready to go. I need advice on the head, I want to run Manley 1.89 & 1.59 stainless valves, blend the bowls for the bigger valves & leave the ports alone. The intake side is huge already & match the intake near perfectly. With the smallish Ranger header I doubt porting the exhaust is worth doing.
How much should I mill the head? Some day I "MIGHT" put a blow through turbo on it, emphasis on might. Stock 4 speed for now till I round up a T5 swap. 3.55 geared 8" posi with 245-60-15 rubber.
Whats a good valve spring to run with a .500 lift hydraulic & should I run Esslinger lifters or will stock Ford hold up?
Am I missing anything? This will be a warm weather Street/Pro Touring hatchback that tips the scales around 2500 pounds.
I'm estimating 140 horses out of this combo. It should be pretty peppy & not too tempermental.
Nobody has done big valves??
Lots of people run big valves but most the ones i know are in turboed 2.3s.
Id suggest you email Boport and talk to him about what your wanting to do with the head im sure he can set you up with springs valves and whatever else you might need and if not he can send you in the right direction.
His email is bo@bo-port.com.
Hope that helps
