OK...I'll be the first to chime in...

'71 - Desirable first-year, but no 2.3 engine available that year.  From posting's I've read, the 2.3 is very durable. Also, '71 doesn't have the huge bumpers required in '74 and beyond.   May be less likely to have the exploding fuel tank recall fix.

'76 - Best year of all, because that's the year of my car, and it's going up for sale!  Seriously, some folks find the later models less desireable because of the big bumpers.   Also, in states like CA, some newer cards have to pass smog every year.   This turned out to be a non-issue for me, as the car passed by a big margin...and that with the original catalytic converter.   Later years may have the exploding gas tank recall fix (mine does).

Squire - Now you're talking.  I am still planning to buy a Squire.  For me (and maybe only me), they are the best looking and the most representative of the times.  On the downside, many folks prefer the regular Pintos.   Also, it's nearly impossible to find one with the wood paneling in good shape, and fixing the paneling can be super expensive.

Those are my thoughts anyway...
