:( I am seriously considering selling my beloved Pinto. As many of you know, in most respects, it's showroom new, with only 42K miles. It's a seriously loaded '76, with every option, and it all works perfectly.
Why? I'm on the hunt for my Pinto Squire and need to make room.
My question is this: Is there any advice out there on how to sell a Pinto like mine? I want to do this relatively fast. I'm considering EBAY No Reserve, but hesitate, since when I bought this car, it went for only $2k, and I know it's worth way more than that. I can also list it here, of course. Just not sure where to go from here.
Any advice would be appreciated!
my thoughts and opinion... for what it's worth...
Ebay is your best bet to get big $$$ but do not "expect" to sell quickly.... think of Ebay as a good way to advertise your car across the country and get it in the eyes of as many potential buyers as possible. Figure out a price you would be happy to sell for and put a reserve, maybe even put in listing what the reserve is or do a buy it now. Lets the potential buyer know what you want for it and let them contact you...
give a breif description, do not go into great detail, let them contact you.
post a reasonable amount of pictures but again, not to detailed, let them contact you for more if they want more.
it's likely to get big $$$ you will have to repost on Ebay several times and be willing to wait to get the $$$ amount you want.
getting big $$$ for a Pinto takes time, nice ones will sell fast if price is kind of cheep for what is offered. I have purchased 2 that I would consider close to yours in condition and options and I purchased asap and like you I paid $1500 for 1 and $2000 for the other. Fixed stuff after purchase to update and maintence... tis the nature of such things.
for the Big $$$ Pintos I have wanted... I waited to see if I could get the price down. The one I just purchased... I waited 4 years since it was first offered to me, seller never budged on price so I finally pulled the trigger and plunked down the $$$
I would also post it here on FordPinto and also on Craigslist, never hurts to cover all options.
to sell fast usually requires that you take less than you would like to but you never know... all it takes is one person looking for exactly the car you have and a strong desire to get it now, price not a factor, and it could sell fast.
Bob, I hate to see you sell that gorgeous '76! I can't talk in this situation, but can't you MAKE room?! lol (I need THAT secret myself!)
If I could afford it I would buy it myself. It's pure eye candy.
