Title: Pinto/Shay 1980 Rear end
Post by: Brownie on July 12, 2011, 11:15:45 AM
I recently purchased a 1980 Ford Shay.  Mine is the "reproduction" Model A Roadster Pickup.  Yesterday I noticed that the rear driver side tire was wobbling.  I pulled the shaft and noticed that about 1/3 of it was missing.  I expect that the shaft was over heat treated or for some other reason failed.  The shaft has a number "9E8CA" located between the four bolt pattern with a ford insignia molded into the surface.

I am told that Shay used all Ford products and most were the small format Pinto parts.  This is a 17 spline shaft.  Any one know where I can pick up one.  If not how about a line on a rearend.
