ok got the bobcat running pretty good but was wondering what some of you guys have done to you 2.3 non turbos to make them wake up a little more and just have more power/speed!! the car moves great down the freeway 80mph easy but would like a little more low end power off the line, with a 4speed thought it would pull a little more then it does, looking for a header maybe a stock one off something else that will fit it?!?! and going to up grade the coil as well as plugs and wires, dont mind doing a little to the head either!! and help will be great till i find a turbo motor to drop in her!!!!thanks again guys you help is always been good and worked every time!!
thank

on my 73 with a 2.0L 4spd tony suggested to me once to swap the primary and secondary jets on my carb, seems the secondary is a bigger jet... anyhow I did and I could tell the difference and didn't effect my gas milage at all. When I put-r-to-the-boards I did notice the difference... not a huge but noticeable.
I have never done the jet swap to one of the later models with a 2.3L
I have several with the 2.3L and 4spd combo and have noticed some are just quicker off the line than others, more low end power... the only difference I can tell is the gearing of the rear end. The better the highway cruising is, the slower they are to get there. If good at the low end they work harder at highway speeds... again it's all in the gear ratio of the rear end as far as I can tell.
4 more degrees of timing at the Dizzy... if she pings back it down two degrees... the 2.3L likes more timing. It is also my opinion the stock cam likes 2 degrees of advance with a adjustable cam gear.
Also back pressure is a good and bad thing.. you have to fined a balance for power and MPG. I like to use exhaust pipe one size bigger than stock and I ether purchase a stock replacement muffler for a full sized truck or a Simple Turbo muffler on my commuter as long as the catalytic converter is not plugged up.

If you can find one the 93-97ish rangers had a factory header that will bolt onto your 2.3 and clear in a pinto just fine.
ranger roller cam works to

not sure if where you live that your car requires emissions testing or not, but if not, I would remove the EGR valve, I noticed a bit more acceleration when I did.
I have my EGR valve removed, 92 mustang roller cam and basically a straight pipe to the muffler. Out of everything, however, changing the axle out for the 8" with 3.00 gears I noticed a lot more get up and go. However I try to limit my freeway cruising speed to 65mph instead of the 80 I used to do with the 2.73 geared 6.75" axle.
Time for an overdrive tranny....
