Title: Electrical ignition module problem
Post by: Late Models Best on July 01, 2011, 09:38:30 PM
Something is going on with my ignition module. This is the second one to get hot and melt out the clear sealant on the back of the module. After my run to Carlisle I noticed it was running down the inner fender and dripping under the car.  It is running ok but seems to be lacking power that my other 2.3 Pintos have. The only other thing I've noticed is that the Sun tach I have installed the needle jumps around on heavier acceleration.  What is causing this?  Any help is appreciated.

I've had this happen with Old Factory Modules the dripping the resin out but not new ones...what brand are you getting? Are you having them tested after wards?

Sounds like you may have some wiring issues. You may have something going to ground that shouldn't be. I'd take a look at the wiring between the module and the dist. to see if there might be some chafed wires. Did you install the tach before the first module started dripping or the second one? That might be an issue as well. Just some food for thought.
