Re: The 2011 Ohio Gathering
This Ohio Gathering is going to be on
"The Pinto's Birthday"
Because of my health, I thought there wouldn't be a 2011th gahering, or at least one run by me.
A friend of mine (Rob Smarch) has agreed to take over ! And wow is he a worker !
What he's done in only a few days is.....
Secure a location,
arrange for a FREE D.J.
arrang for a nearby hotel / resteraunt to give us a group rate, and some door prizes (to go to Pinto Owners Only)
Some Fortyith Anniverity stickers of some kind, and a lot more.
This is going to prove out to be "Far Better then anything that I had done" and I ask that you support him, help him make 2011th be the best "Gathering of Pinto's" ever seen.
If you have a suggestion, he'll make it a reality.
, he's a worker, and supprise's me.
You can contact Rob......
Through this site. His Email address (rallytwo@aol.com) His phone 216 320 1613
Or should everything above fail, contact me at this site, Email Address jimsfinefords@yahoo.com
and phone 440 591 8381
This "Ohio Gathering" is of course open to our neighbors , all "49" states.
How You'd drive from Hawaii remains interisting. (Thus not "50" states)
It's my understanding th Carlisle Pa. had 70 plus cars. The way Rob does things, it wouldn't supprise me if we/he outdid them.
So come on guys / gals get behind him.
Support him, help make this the best year ever.
Jim O'Reilly at Jims Pinto
Jim, I'm sorry to hear that you have had health issues but this year nothing can stop me. The car made it to & from Carlisle & is in good shape for a trip inside Ohio. I will email him for more info once I get home from work.
Jim I think the flame you started in the Ohio meet is the thing of legends!
I hope the PCCA and FordPinto.com members will do their best they can to promote your activities in the beautiful Amish country.
FrankBoss
give me a date so i can be there
Where in Ohio also?
usualy cleveland area
Jim! So good to see a post from you... we've missed you! Sorry to hear that health problems are continuing to plague you but glad to hear you're still kickin' and still into Pintos!
You say the Ohio meet is going to be on the Pinto's 40th birthday... am I to assume you're referring to Sunday, September 11th? If so, that's my wife's birthday too and I'm actually off from work that weekend. Maybe I can talk her into a birthday trip to Ohio to see some Pintos!
She avoided going to Carlisle with me last month simply because of the sheer size of the place and her physical limitations - a Pinto-only meet might be much more to her liking!
Dwayne
Great weather and a evening Cruise people! Sounds like fun horsing around!
FrankBoss
What a great bunch of guys ! No wonder this site is so great and fun to visit.
RE: A Reply.
I asked Rob to take over the meet, and wont step on his toes, if you know what I'm saying.
I will jump (ha ha ha) on him for the fact that he didn't reply as yet. Then again, maybe I should "shut-up" After all he does have a job to go to.
What I will do, is reply to post #6. Dwayne's Post (it'll answer some of the other questions also)
Yea, September 11th. is "The Pinto's Birthday" Forty Years Old, can you believe it ?. I'm glad my father told me about this, as it's well before my time.
From there, I'm not going to steel Robs glory. He's doing all the work, I'm just sitting back, happy to be alive.
And looking forward to seeing you all.
Jim O'Reilly At JimsPinto
PS.......... THE SITE DOES NEED A SPELL CHECK, SOME OF US AIN'T THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAW. GLAD IT THERE !
Keep it going Jim your doing a great job keeping us informed!

Rob,
Barring a miracle, my Pinto won't be up to the trip... still see no reason why my wife and I couldn't take a weekend ride to Ohio and enjoy the meet. September 11th is her birthday too, so in the end, it's going to be up to her. I'll let you know!

Rob, thanks again, your always there.
Although it seems to be a redundant thing, this in and out of the hospital, it beats the hell out of the alternative any day !
I'll be looking on here for any updates and / or news from those who will be attending. Rest assured I will NOT,be in the hospital that day. I'm only going there because I like the nurses anyway.
Jeannie G. from Pa.
What part of Pa. are you from.
For what it's worth, I'm only about eighty miles from the Penn. line A short trip even for a Pinto.
And your not alone in Pinto ownership. There's.... Garvey M. At garvey2@windstream.net. A beautiful 100% original Pinto. From Chardon Ohio.
Liz Fry (pintowomen) at fryracing@wowway.com A very hot and fast Pinto turned race car, from Michagan.
Both have attended the Ohio Get Together, and would join me in welcoming you. Hope you can make the gathering, show us guys what a great job you gal's can do !

This was thanks to Rob's hard work collecting resources and Pinto owners for a professional photo shoot at Liberty Ford in Macedonia, Ohio. Now the photo's are going to the local papers and a little story behind the history or the car and and the owners.
And yes that's a 20 foot banner in front of those beautiful Pinto's.

I was really hoping to make it there this year, as it's the first time it has ever fallen on my weekend off from work! That, and the fact that my wife and the Pinto share their September 11th birthday! Unfortunately, other family responsibilities that I had hoped were going be resolved by now are not, and we're not going to be free to travel. Hope you have a wonderful show and maybe I'll be able to make it next year!
Dwayne
Dwayne,
Sorry to hear this but hope you will be able to come next year for sure.
If your plans should change last minute this year, we would love to have you.
Thanks,

Thanks, Rob - can't imagine any chance of things changing by next weekend but if by some miracle they did, I'd be on my way to Ohio in a heartbeat! Let us know how it all goes!
Dwayne
Dwayne,
Sure will!
Rob
Not sure if I'm gonna be able to go now. I gotta take a very close look at my finances to see if I can afford to put gas in the car. I have missed it for one reason or another so needless to say if I cannot make it I'm not gonna be a happy camper. I'll know more later in the week.
Really hoping you and Harold II can make it!!
Let me know if I can help in any way.
Rob
Darn it, Dwayne. Meeting you was one of the big reasons for me to go. But I totally understand about other stuff being more important than a car show. It's happened to me a lot over the years too.
Still hoping to go, I need some more depression in my life right now. Heck, I almost smiled once last week. Nothing like being among a bunch of people who have something you don't anymore to make you feel good. :-/
Got to see where we are financially this weekend. My wife gets her first check Friday, but knowing that, we spent a bit too much last weekend on stuff we had been putting off. So things are a tad tight until I get paid in a week and a half. Of course she told me we spent too much AFTER we spent it. I let her do the checkbook and bills, sometimes she doesn't deduct stuff right away.
I can't even afford to get the T-shirt made I wanted saying "Yes, I am the idiot who gave away his Pinto for free." Thought that would be better than a name tag. :-)
Russ
Hi Russ! I'm flattered by your nice comments! I was looking forward to meeting you too, but I'm sure our paths will cross someday. The reason I can't come next weekend is a family issue. About two weeks after I got home from Carlisle, my handicapped (Spina Bifida) sister became very ill. She was a patient at the University of Virginia Medical Center for 17 days and had five surgical procedures while she was there. Since then, she has been recuperating and rehabilitating in a local nursing/rehab facility. For all of Beth's 51 years, our mother has been her primary caregiver but now Mom is in the mild to moderate stages of Alzheimers. She is no longer able to drive and yet she becomes quite upset if she isn't able to visit my sister daily, so it has fallen to you-know-who to get her there every day. When the Ohio get-together was first announced, I thought perhaps Beth would be home by then and my wife and I would be free to have a weekend getaway. Unfortunately, while she's recovering quite well, the target date for her discharge home is October 15th and I was just informed of this at a care plan conference last week. So... although I can finally (after eleven weeks) see a light at the end of the tunnel, any idea of taking a trip anywhere before then is simply out of the question. In the meantime, I hope you'll still be able to make it, Russ. If I know nothing else from my trip to Carlisle in June, it's that feelings of depression are darned near impossible when you're with a group of Pintos and their owners! Go and have a blast!
Dwayne
I like this forum...excellent info. discovered it on yahoo. will save it as a favorite.

Hi Rob,
Well, as I said from the start, bringing THE BEAST to your Ohio event would depend on the weather. Unfortunately, as I only have an open trailer, the weather this weekend will prevent me from attending.
Wishing you a great event and looking forward to hearing lots of positive things about the Ohio Get Together.
Dick
Oh this is gonna be a tough one but I am doing what I can to get there. I have been told by quite a few that in my current predicament it is not a good idea as things are tight but my councelor thinks I need to take a day to just have fun no matter what. I'm gonna listen to her.
Dick,
I do completely understand and hope to have you the following year!!
Look for pics of the event here on this website soon after.
Thanks again,
Rob
Matt,
You should have some fun every once in a while. I think you should listen to her and come.
Also, we just received some cool Pinto things to give out not only from the Pinto Stampede people but also from Scott Hamilton of the PCCA nationals.
Rob
Scott Hamilton,
Thanks for sending the shipment of COOL Pinto goodies to give out at "The Ohio Get Together". I received them yesterday (Friday). I will be sure to give them out for those Pinto attendees at the show tomorrow. I know everyone will love them.
Thanks for your support from the nationals!
Rob
well, I am not going to be able to make it after all. Financial issues just popped up. We will be fine next weekend, but right now I am not sure I even have enough gas to get to work this week.
Hope you all have fun.
Russ
russ sorry you can not make it i was looking forward to meeting you again. i will see everyone else in a few hrsi will be pulling out very soon.
phil
I hope all you guys enjoyed the show. It is 12:43 PM & I just got done with fixing the rear end issue. It is all aligned but by the time I got all cleaned up I would be there for about an hour before I had to turn around & come home. I just couldn't justify the drive for one hour. The money isn't there anyways, as I don't even really have money to put gas in my daily driver, let alone the Pinto.
Just got back from a test drive & it turns out I made the right choice. After replacing the bad rear leaf spring it fixed the rear axle being too far forward on the driver side but it did create an alignment issue. The car now pulls a bit so before I take the car on any major drives I gotta get that fixed.
The "Ohio Get Together" was a huge success!! No rain and a beautiful day in Macedonia, Ohio.
Congratulations to Jeannie(Pintogenie) and Doug Greenfield of Stoneboro, PA who won people's choice 1st Place!!
We had a WHOPPING 16 Pintos at the show from Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Thanks for coming on an iffy weather day that turned out great!
Thanks to Cookieboy for providing the Pinto scrap books. They were a big hit with all. Thanks to Scott Hamilton for providing more goodies from the national club.
Between the 50/50 and donations we raised $210.00 for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Please make a note that next year's show will be at the same location Sunday, Sept. 9TH, 2012.
Watch for pics on this website soon from the show.
Thanks to all who helped and attended. We hope to make it bigger and better next year.
ROB AND JIM
Glad the turnout was so good. Sucks the mechanical woes got my car & prevented it from going. Oh well, things happen for a reason I guess.
just got home was a great day weather was nice, i started out in rain but it cleared up. i will get pics up in the morning. thanks jim for starting this event and rob for keeping it going. it was nice to see old friends and make some new ones. it was supprising to see the 16 pintos there. and it was a bigger shock to get the dj choice award.
Matt,
No worries, we will see you there next year for sure!
Thanks for trying.
Rob
Phil,
Great to have you at the show and congrats on the DJ's choice!
So glad to get a Bobcat at the show!

Thanks for coordinating and getting everything done making the show a success.Nancy and I had a great time minus the one little detail concerning a certain set of keys.I am honored to have won the "Chilis Choice" award. It looks great next to my first ever trophy that I won in August @ the "Aesthetic Finishers Open-House Carshow".I am really proud of my Pinto and it is ALWAYS a good time hangin with other Pinto fanatics. We will definitely be attending the future Ohio Get Togethers. Thanks again to Rob,Jim,and Cookieboy for their efforts in making these events so much fun.TOMMYS
Tommy,
Was great to have you and Nancy! I have some great pics of the police in front of your car. I tried to get him to put the police lights on but he wouldn't. We would like to have you come back next year but I'm hoping we won't have to call the police on you again.
Thanks!
Rob

here is a link to my pics
i did not get the 16th car which was also the farthest distance winner (you realy did not have to make the wrong turn to get the extra distance  )
there were a lot of people taking pic so lets see more.
Phil,
Thanks for the quick pics of "The Ohio Get Together"
I am not as sophisticated and am having to get help to put my pics on the website.
Thanks!
Rob
Some really nice cars there.
Was that a 58 or so Ford behind one of them?
And who wimped out and used a trailer? :-)
Russ
Russ,
That was a 58 Edsel. Nice car.
I had the 38 year old factory original set of A78-13's whitewall bias ply tires on my car for the show so I was the wimp with the trailer.

I'd wimp out and use a trailer too, as opposed to riding on 38-year-old rubber!!! :surprised:
Dwayne
It was nice to meet everyone at the Ohio meet.
Special thanks to Rob for putting everything together. This was a lot of work.
To Phil's Toys " (you really did not have to make the wrong turn to get the extra distance (http://www.fordpinto.com/Smileys/default/lol.gif) )
I love it, too funny...
The wife had a good time teasing me about men refusing to "ask for directions".
I had a Garmin GPS in the glove box and I wouldn't plug it in because I thought I knew where I was going. I looked on a map the night before and thought..this is easy, get off the turnpike at 271 and head north. I didn't think that the 271 freeway didn't have an exit or a sign.
this was sent to me here we are gathered
