Hi guys,
I was having issues with the car cranking before & thought it was a bad neutral safety switch. Well, I went to Carlisle & the problem went away for the trip. It is now after Carlisle & the problem returned. While I was on lunch at work I started the car using a screwdriver & out of curiosity looked in my rearview mirror. No backup lights.
Now I know the fuse is good, as the turn signals work & the grounds are good as well. All was working for Carlisle, including the backup lights. The bulbs are brand new & have no breaks in the filiment.
My question is on a 77 Pinto 2.3 C3 automatic is the reverse switch part of the neutral safety switch? It has been a couple years since I did the transmission so I don't recall if it had one plug or two going to it.
Thanks for any info guys!
Matt here is the switch on a C-3. Fred :)
The plug still plugged in on the right or the one that is unplugged?
Any idea if it also operates the backup lights?
Found out the neutral safety switch is the same part on the C-3 as the reverse switch, so now I know the switch is bad. I got no reverse lights on the car & gotta use a trusty screwdriver to start the car. Oh well, I will go to a junkyard to get a replacement.

Well... fortunately, that shouldn't be TOO expensive! Hang in there!
