Now that I have your attention, here's the scoop..
My first Carlisle show was 6/3-6/5. Interesting eh? No it was not this year but 5 years earlier.. 2005. I bought the car & fixed her up feeling pretty good about the trip but not certain. Drove to Carlisle, with no problem, showing off the ugliest Pinto there. I won most potential & had lotsa fun. I drove home 6/5 when I notice her having starting problems. Revved ok, no problem. I was following Harley (Pintoman) home when disaster struck. Pouring rain, the passenger side wiper broke so I removed it & the car did not want to start. I got her going but did not go too far. the car died in the pouring rain on 70 West. Harley was unable to turn around at all, so I managed to limp her to Dallas Pike, where I got the car to a gas station where AAA towed me home. The tow truck driver rips off my exhaust but denys everything. The car was whisper quiet before he towed it & horribly loud after the fact. Ever since then it has been problem after problem.
Fast forward to 2011. I move home in March, figuring I had very little to do to prep the car. Pouring rain for almost the entire months of April & May prevented work but I still managed to take her to Maaco to finish the job. June 2, 2011. Dad & I have the car all packed up for Carlisle. About 9:15pm or so we get pulled over for a burned out headlight & the exhaust starts to fall off. We call it a night & fix it the next day. 6/3: we hit the road, while having to fix the exaust ehenever we stop for anything. We get to the hotel about 2:15pm or so & fix the exaust again. It needs fixing again at the fairgrounds. I was then told I had something on the car. It is grease. I found out it was the balljoint. Fast forward to 6/5.. We are driving home, car shaking & exhaust occasionally scraping the ground. but she kept going. No matter what she made it this time! I can safely say the car never stopped going, even with the issues the car had.
Here's to a successful trip & for many more once I get her issues fixed!
