Hey all just a curious question. What of the three body designs have the most strength (torque for higher HP applications like turbo swap or V8)
I think the coupe is the strongest but just looking for other opinions
Thanks
Dave
Coupe. 74 and later.
They switched to Mustang II suspension and basically beefed everything up under there. And the trunk model is stiffer.
Wagon by far!
Trunk cars are the stiffest but even they should have sub frame connectors installed and in the end after thats done they are all about the same. just make sure its one thats 74 or newer like was stated earlier.
later models are stronger as suggested by others, but they are heavy compared to the early models, why not add sub frame connectors to an early model and be lets say 500 lbs lighter? (1971 truck 1949lbs, and a 1975 trunk is like 2,500 lbs),
Yeah but the older models have crap brakes/suspension the later models have tons of bolt-on aftermarket parts thanks to hotrods. Plus the earlier models engine bays are smaller I do believe.
