Title: more bumper pix
Post by: tony v on May 09, 2011, 10:02:57 PM
its lookin alot better since i dont have the stepside affect peering out the back of penelope now.   but now i have to go and git a ladder to change the lights in the shop.   (kidding)
the hole you drill in the center of the bumper bracket is so you can rosset the weld and get a good weld around the compression bumper stubb also.

I do realize this is an old post but Thats what I need to do to my `78 rear (and front). Anymore pics of a rear bumper set in like this? Is this member still active here?  That bumper setup looks damn clean!

When I first mentioned that I could do this, there was some interest. A few members asked for me to show how I did it. In the 6 months sense, you seem to be the only person interested.

I saw this and will do it on my car,I will have the rear suspension out
anyway so the rear wont be too hard.

I think a lot of people were interested in your
thread on tucking the bumpers. I am going to
do it to my 76. I'm going to use 77-78 bumpers.
I love the look of you Bobcat. Thanks for all the
photos.

Bill, every project on this site, big or small, inspires someone! likely lots! and yours I suspect is one that is much desired by a lot of people. Just know that when you share the info it will help someone and is seen and considered by many that don't reply. I keep an eye on what people are looking at then they visit the site, guests and members, and without a doubt it's projects like this that the masses come to the site for. Keep posting and sharing the info, it's why we are all here. Great work and thanks for posting.

In all honesty, I would think every Pinto out there would have that look by now. Those (78 at least) bumpers stick out like diving platforms. Makes the car look like a dork mobile.  ;D   I`m so glad you documented this Joebob. Cut my time by 2/3rds since the "thought process" is gone.  ;)

I did this to my 78 wagon. Looks soooo much better! Thinking about tucking the front bumper a little closer also.

i moved mt 78 bobcats bumpers in, the front 4inchs and the rear 6inches cut the fillers and it looks awsome!!!the rear was easy and looks normal now, before it looked like  a after thought.
