In the above link with info on the T5.
After reading it, sounds like the T5 is not the trans to use with a 450 HP engine. Specs they wrote about shows the trans would be at the top end of being able to handle it.
What other 5 speeds would work better ?
I've been way from being a "motorhead" too many years. Trying to catch up gives me a head ache !
hey reeves1, im dooin the same thing i guess, i looked it up like 3 weeks ago and found that the t-5 from a cobra or the rebuild kit from tremec is the way to go. i have a 77 trunk model andthe more i work on the thing, the faster its gonna go. i have the same worries. go to the tremec site. plenty-0-info there. hope this helps tony v.
TKO 500 is the next step up in torque spec's.

Looks like it is an order item ? Doesn't list anything it would be in from factory.
Main reason I asked is I'm going to look at 3-4 Pintos in the next week or so. He also has Mustang lls and lots more.
I'll be trying to find 9" diffs and other parts.
Before going I'll start another topic & will take my lap top & camera. Planning on a 2-3 day trip & taking my 18' car hauler & not going to return empty !
good luck. As HP goes up, most go with autos vs Manuals. I have a SROD out of an 82 mustang GT that does fine for my 351, but it is stock., but will most likely replace it with the latest T5 I can find when it does finally scream and die.
The person who sold me my 4 speed in my pinto now,put a Quiafe Rocketr in his pinto.
I wonder if hes here somewhere :)
Could always run a G-force transmission http://www.gforcetransmissions.com/ (http://www.gforcetransmissions.com/)

Astro makes em' too.
F.Y.I. those torque specs are rated at 3200 lbs so its a safe bet that you can get away with a little more power in a pinto since they weigh a little less ;D
