took the stinkbug out for a drive while going about40 the oil guage dropped to zero so i pushed in the clutch turned it off..walked about a mile to a phone to get it towed home >:(
Sorry to hear it!
Are you sure it's not the gauge?
Mike
Wow, that stinks. Not a good feeling when that happens, when I first got my Pinto there was a major wiring issue, she would just die and not start, or not start when just shut down. Man that was embarrassing to say the least. Sitting with your hot rod Pinto on the side of the road, you could feel the eyes on you. I got it sorted though, hasn't happened in a couple of years. I know the walk of shame. It dsound slike you shut it down before something locked up, so it aint all bad.
i can turn it half a turn with a breaker bar either direction before it locks up :( thats ok bin laden is dead the flight 93 memorial is going to feel great!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if the stinkbug cant make it!
About 3 weeks ago I lived the Wait Of Shame when Ruby broke down about a mile from home when her throttle solenoid wire broke. :'(

Hell Yeah!!! Makes me wanna go there right now & jump for joy.
Sry to hear about the stinkbug. I take there is no hope of revival before Carlisle? What about another car going?
My orange79 is running great also have my 79 sedan which is a total beater....but it has a 2.3 turbo motor (my test mule for fitting a turbo motor)gonna look at maybe a transplant but its the whole$$$$ thing right now
there is hope just got done removing the oil pan... The oil pump pickup somehow fell out of the oil pump and wedged itself in the crank case.. Wierdest thing ive ever seen
Woo Hoo!!
Good luck man, Hopefully the stinkbug isn't too seriously hurt then.
Was that why the engine didn't want to crank much either way?
it turns over fine now but found about a inch by inch piece of piston in the bottom of the oil pan :(
I've seen that before on 2.3s the piston skirts crack and break off- IMO caused by driving a long time with pinging going on. Years ago I bought a 78 CW that pinged like mad- even on prem. gas. Found that the egr tube was plugged up. The engine has pretty bad piston slap going on, and later after I disassembled it, there were a couple of skirts in the pan, and the remaining pistons were cracked and ready to let go of their skirts too!
Maybe thats what knocked off your oil pickup?

i had a 76 mercury capri that had a similiar problem... The stinkbug has a 2.0 without an egr tube...
You fixing stinkbug or just going to bring another car instead?
i plan on bringing my orange 79 all glass hatchback..and the plan right now for stinky is put another oilpump pickup on it..at least she wil be able to drive on and off a trailer for denver :)
