Post by: flash041 on April 12, 2011, 07:02:33 PM
I have a friend attempting a turbo swap. Putting a 2.3 turbo from a Merkur XR4TI in a 79 Bobcat hatchback.Any one done one? Are there any threads about the swap?

Ive heard they have a stand alone wiring harness for the engine so that part will be lots easier than a t bird or mustang

I plan to put my turbo Pinto build essay back online so people can refer to it again.

the XR wiring harness is standalone which makes it easy. you'll need 2.3 motor mounts and make clearance for turbo outlet to start with.

Click on "Forum" on the horizontal menu line near the top of the page.  Then in the search box in the upper right corner, type "turbo swap": lots of info.

The best (most complete) will be in the FAQ section.

Good luck!

If you don't want to hunt down original mounts, this was my adaptation to gain added strength/header clearance for racing with my Lotus 4 banger...
