Just bought a '73 ivy green squire wagon, A/C, 2000 and a 4 spd yesterday. It's going to be a daily driver (cheaper than my '68 bronco).
I'm looking for advice on upgrading to a 5 spd, maybe a 2300. I'm interested in what gauges (speedo, tach, oil press, water temp, amp meter, and fuel) will fit the stock two hole dash. A tilt steering wheel would be nice. I would like to raise the car a little for taller tires, 14 or 15 inch wheels. I'd like to get a smaller A/C compressor.
If I'm missing anything please let me know.
Thanks
Im running 235 60 14in back and 175 60 14 on front with no raising of vehicle the 2.3 and 5 sp is a fairly easy swap imho use the 4 cyl 5 sp (better gear ratio) the easiest way i know is to use the d9 bellhousing ( lets you keep the stock clutch cable) hope this helps....Dave

D9 refers to the date code stamped on to the housing. It means 79. I think that most have missed the fact that you have a 73 and have a 2.0 with out the hope of a 2.3 with out new motor mounts welded to the frame. I put a 351 in mine, but know that 2.0 hop up parts are out there. Come visit the cars at FFF and ask all the questions you want. Mine will be the mostly black primer with spots of rust and very little original brown paint left.
