Post by: 75BOBCAT on April 05, 2011, 01:32:36 PM
Attention Pinto nuts
Hello
I thank you first of all for your opinions
My bobcat has the 2.8 and it currently doesn't run.
As of right now im deciding on a replacement engine or doing something with the v6.
If anyone has past experience i'd love to hear anything
I mainly just would like to know what you would do in my position
I love this car to death its my baby and i want to give her a proper resurrection.
Fuel Injection? Engine Size? Yada Yada post your hearts out
THANKS AGAIN  :read:

Chad, I like the 2.3's the best because they were manufactured so many years making it easy and cheap to get parts.  Fred   ;)

i have a 1975 bobcat with a factory 2.8 automatic trans a/c car and it runs great and never had any trouble with the car has only 38,000 miles and looks and drive great, i would rebuild or find a 2.8 running motor, but if you want more power and better fuel mileage go wiht the 2.3 turbo!!! thats my next project a bobcat wagon with a 2.3 turbo!!!
hope this helps

First thanks for all the positive feedback
My brother has a 2.3 in his pinto and tells me the same things about it, concerning turbo and easy to find parts.
Yes I do have the v6 with the 8 inch, it also has the ac and power steering and about 52000 miles on it.  I took the radiator out today and started on the alternater, condensor and the fan.  My dad was concerned about the condensor because he says it's under pressure.  Any knowledge on that?  He also found a ranger v6, 1984, and were just going to get it running for now.  Anyone knowledge on if this will bolt to the tranny, he thinks it will?
Thanks again
Jon

the 2.8 and 2.9 will bolt to the C4 auto that is in the wagons and the c3 and c4 that you get in the smaller car.  That is the information i got from a book. on the 2.8/2.9l ford engine

I am putting a 99 model 4.0 in my 77 hatch back . the motor mounts are the same as your 2.8. as a extra you get a boost in power fuel injection and for about 100 bucks a power chip that can be reprogramed to suit.
