Title: how to test a oil pan for leaks

added depth to my pan...i'd like to check it. i used water since it way way way thinner then oil. Worked great then i used a little rubbing alcohol to get rid of the excess water left in it after dumping the rest out. Worked for me just fine mine has 0 leaks.

Bill, with the light oil in fuel it makes a leak very easy to detect.  Fred   :)

Oh also if yah want to smooth out the welds Jb weld works well just smear it over the welds it helps seal small leaks and if done right you cant even tell the pan was modded.

Update...tested with gas...a leak showed up like pronto! re-welded, now it's good!
