Plug .034    time is 6@550 rpm.  points you should not have.  Fred   :)

I hope that adjusting the distributor points will make this pinto run more correctly, recently I've been having problems whenever I start it up cold. I have to literally push down on the accelerator pedal...than after it shifts my car jerks.

Like Fred said the 78 2.3s do not have points. They have electronic ignition. I would suggest replacing the distributor cap & rotor, as well as checking the ignition box. It is a square box mounted to the driver side of the engine compartment, next to the ignition coil. It would also be a good idea to check the coil as well.
