Title: 1978 Ford Pinto with 302w
Post by: Troll on March 22, 2011, 07:16:31 AM
Been working on it for a while, just never knew there was a forum for pintos! Well here's mine...

Everything works minus the tag light, but I have a secondary one (1 led and button battery taped together) on for now until I repair that. And the speedometer cable broke. Has no radio. For a/c roll the windows down, for the heater roll the windows up. All original interior minus the carpet.

yeah the engine didnt fit initially, so the firewall was set back a few inches... have a special way to change spark plugs ... i now want to go back to its original v4 ... if i can find one or someone who wants to trade id be able to put the firewall back

I'm at that firewall point on my project, cut the bottom center of the cowl out for a little extra room to fit a 351w in. also decided to run a dry sump system so I can drop it down and move it back 4'' to help on weight transfer. My son and I have had some quality time together building this ride.

If you werent just a few states south of me, I would consider since I have a spare 2.3 with c3. But, for the cost of shipping, I would be just about as happy trying to find a running 2.3T out of the bone yard!

The mustang II did not start until 74, so either the year of engine or car are off.  Unfortunately I spent way too much time researching casting codes trying to decipher what car my engine came from since it was a swap on the parts car I bought.  If you have the casting code of the block, I can help you.

well thats what I ripped it out of, I never really thought it was original, but never cared to check into it. It ran so I bought it. I dont think anyone at the salvage yard would have known if I asked... I remember seeing it during the transfer, but now Im worried it may be in an inaccessible area because of the fit. Ill see about getting it and posting it sometime this weekend

it is most likely hidden unless you have a mirror.  if I remember, it is above the starter.  No worries, just wanted you to know that something did not match.

yeah no worries. I didnt really know much about it so I went off what I could see, the markings on the car. But I know not to trust 100%. Ill get you the codes and when you figure out whats what Ill have to change my posting. Youll notice down the road that I dont really know this or that but I know whats its good for and where it goes and what it does!

see good thing I found this site, to help straighten me out
