Just wondering if the shape of the 71-73 is the same as a 76 ?
Reason being, I'll be touring to CA later this year to pick a 76 up. I never did like the 76 front porch bumpers.
Will the 71-73s fit ? Same front end shape ?

I do not think so. but to be sure, check the frame diagrams on the site. they are split between 71-73 and 74-80.
71-80 width is the same 28" so you can use any bumper you want. Fred :)
Fred, thank you for that little bit of info. I had been wondering that as I like the 71-73 bumpers better. By the way, have not forgotten you. Did get some of the things taken care of off of my list. Anyone have a couple bumpers laying around that could check this ?
I will jump in and say the early bumbpers were much smaller and rounded. Very cool looking. Beyond that, the bumper that came off of my 77 and the one off of a 79 bobcat thats on the 77 appear to be the same at a distance. I know they both bolted up the same and is the god forsaked squarish bumpers. LOL.
I think the mounting holes may be different. I have bumpers off a 72 that I was going to put on my 73 and they did not seem to line up correctly. Either that, or my front end is more messed up than I thought.
The 71-72 will not line up with 73 on up on front bumper. You can take the time to do bolt holes or clamp it like I did to the 73 picture #2 and 3 and arc weld on. You can use a 73 on latter model if you use 73 shock mount's. #1 picture is 73 bumper I have for sale. Fred :)

Thanks for letting me know that I am not crazy. I have put plates up front that I will weld to so that the bumper brackets will still be removeable. I am using the original mounting holes to mount my front cross bar I have made to hold my radiator.
Need any more picture's let me know. The only year I don't have is a 76. Fred :)
