Title: Auto trans with adaptor
Post by: wedge446 on March 09, 2011, 06:39:17 AM
Ive seen the adapters that can be use to mount a V8 trans onto a 2.3
Ive also read there are mods that need to be done to get it into a pinto but it all seems to be hearsay.
Has anyone got details on doing a swap using the adapter?

yes, to use a v8 auto you need either a custom torque convertor with the center nub that faces the engine the correct size to fit the end of the crank or you need to have the crank machined to fit the v8 nub.....

other than that the adapter is a simple bolt on.... im running one....

Is that all V8 autos?
What trans are you running?
What about the trans tunnel, did it need to be modified?
How many teeth flywheel?
V8 flex plate?
I would like all the details you have not matter how small they are

im not running an auto at the moment, i have the 157 tooth wheel.... i had to hammer the entry of the tranny tunnel about 1.5 inches around the tranny tunnel, no cutting. the flywheel needs to be zero balance..
