Title: Pinto was MY first car too- talk me out of another!
Post by: kokopelli on March 02, 2011, 07:17:24 PM
Ok- so back in 1987 my first car was a '79 Pinto. Dark green w/ tan interior that dad bought for $500 bucks. I think I ended up putting a dent in all four corners before I was done with it! I'll dig up an old picture when i get time...
Anyway, here we are some decades later. I am in the market for a car- a daily driver, as I lost my 'company' car. Being nostalgic, I'm thinking 'why not find another Pinto?'  :hypno: So, am I nuts? By the way I'm 6'3" now, am I too tall for a Pinto? I would end up having to buy one sight unseen since there are NO pintos around here. I can't remember the last time I saw one.
I'll peruse the boards here, but what I'm interested in would be a '79 or '80 'trunk' model, NO blue inside or out. I hate blue. -Sorry blue fans. What do I need to look out for? Send any leads my way!

Why would we want to talk you out of another? Heck, I just bought mine for a quote un-quote daily driver. I love the thing. Not as quite as the Lumina or van. But it gets almost as good of gas mileage as the Lumina and it has replaced the van for obviouse gas reasons. LOL. Its a blast to ride in. I love the looks and comments I get on it! So all I can do, is to talk you into it! Watch ebay and craigs list and the classifieds here!

Heck no I won't talk you out of getting one... I'll even encourage you to get more than one!  ;D  Also, Pintos seem to have LOTS of head room for such a little car. Go get you one! ;D

I will agree with all the guys here as far as the head room...And for that matter leg room, Sitting at 6' 4" I had no real issues with the stock steering wheel. But still opted to go with a lil smaller than stock one!  It seems that there is always a Pinto popping up somewhere, Keep yer eyes peeled You'll find them in the oddest places!!
