I have a 75 Bobcat with the 2.8L. The Distributor is not turning, I pulled it out and checked the drive gear which doesn't turn when the engine is rotated. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this problem?
If it's oil pump driven like the 2.3l 4cyl, it could be your oil pump. If not, does it run off an auxiliary shaft like the 2.3 does?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the 2.8 cologne.
I would say it may be the timing gear. It turns the cam, which turns the distributor. Its ver common. The original in nylon. My original lasted about 60k.I replaced it with metal gears. It can be replaced without pulling the engine.
