Asking for info on what year and model of std. 5 speed transmission can be bolted up to a 2.8 V6 that has a factory C4 auto. I've heard that a 80s T-Bird 5 speed will work? Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
the 80's t-bird trans are for the 2.3 because the only t-bird to have a 5 speed is the turbocoupe and all of which are 2.3 turbos.
Id say the 2.8 2.9 ranger trans but then that is hydraulic, Dunno if a 3.8 would have the same bolt pattern if it does then maybe a newer stang trans? Or adapt a 5 speed to a mustang II 4 speed bell?
The '89 up Supercoupe with 3.8l Essex V-6: "M5R2 5-speed, Mazda-derived manual transmission was standard in the SC model" according to Wikipedia. Dunno if that will fit the earlier V-6.

I was told that the 2.8/2.9 Ranger trans and bellhousing was interchangeable with the Pinto V6 2.8 as it is the same motor made in Germany, but modifications to the shifter hole in the tunnel would have to be made. That's no problem, I just want to make sure that I get correct info before I start this modification. A Ranger 5 speed tranny with O/D would work fine for my use, I've owned quite a few Rangers with std. trannies since 1984 even a Bronco II and they were great. The hydraulic clutch set up wouldn't be a problem to adapt as long as the trannie, bell, clutch and flywheel all bolt up.
