Title: semi-permenant floor pan repair
Post by: Jippah on February 24, 2011, 05:12:40 AM
so the other day i removed all of Shelly's interior including the carpet and saw the state of the floor pans and boy, it's a miracle no one has fallen through the passenger side yet *_*

but i bought some 18 gauge sheet metal and started an adventure :P

i made a template from a piece of cardboard then kinda went from there...

here are some pics of my little afternoon project :)

1st, the rusted state it was in;

heres the finished sheet metal i cut out and bent;

heres the piece in the car for a test fit;

and after a bit more tweaking, i decided to clean off the outer rim of the original pan with a wire brush and lined it with QuickSteel (I'm no welder)
then i installed a sheet of dynamat over it

i sat inside and pounded around a few times with my feet and such and it seems very solid.
what are your thoughts my fellow esteemed Pinto fanatics?
