This time a 71 runabout, and as an added bonus it came with a title. ;D
Its in decent shape for its age, the usual rust spots but nothing severe, nowhere near as bad as my 78. No engine or tranny but I still have a 2.8 v6 just sitting under a tarp. The original frame mounts have been cut but it has the later style already welded in.

Only photo I have ATM is a crappy cellphone image
This is a different place than where I found the beat up low mileage 78 wagon (See my "I hate crushers thread")
This guy (not even a ford fan) actually asked the guy that brought it to him if he had the title cause he "just couldn't crush a Pinto". Said he was glad to see it go to a good home. Very cool guy, even set it up to be towed home for me, and the driver of the wrecker was a notary so all I gotta do now is take it to the DMV to get it in my name :) .
Good to know some crushers know a great car when they see one.
Just too bad whoever took the 78 didn't drive a couple more miles down that same road to this place, Might have saved it from a lot of damage and later from becoming a Pinchero..
Congratulations!!! What a great story. Is this a half-glass hatch?
Not sure what that is LOL, never had anything other than two wagons. But I'm guessing yes, its a hatch with a smaller window with chrome strips or ribs running down the hatch. ???
AAAACK!!! Why can't the wreckers out here save one of those for me!? :o Yep. You have the coveted (at least by me) half-glass hatch model... elusive creatures, these...
I've always wanted a 76 wagon and since I couldn't find one, I decided to make my 78 look like one by changing the headlights and grill... Just find yourself a hatch lid and there ya go. if you don't plan on selling it who's gonna know? You could always change back if you wanted to. :) I'd imagine its just a couple bolts but like I said this is the first non wagon I've seen up close so I wouldn't know.
Small window hatches are pretty rare as they only came on the 71 models. In 72 they changed to the full glass frame. Nice save.
interesting.. i learn something new everytime i log on.
a half-glass hatch eh?
i'd like to see some pictures of these rare critters
Nice save. My first Pinto was a 71 runabout/hatch model (fond memories).
Until 2.3stangii gets a rear photo up, here is a photo from the gallery of a 71 hatch.

Nice save - glad that yard operator had a big heart...
Good luck on the project!!
