Were there any major differance between the two as far as engine wiring, ignition wiring, electrical modules, ect...?

Not that I am aware of. As far as I know they are both the same. The only thing I think that was different is that you could not get the V6 4spd in a Pinto. They were all automatics.
Pretty sure in 1974 Ford was not willing to face a world where the Pinto was faster than the Mustang. So the 4-Speed Pinto couldn't be allowed to exist. Oddly enough I think the fastest car Ford made in 74 was the Maverick. It still had the F code 302 as an option.
Actually Ford's fastest car in late 74 were the early Granada's with the 351W. And the Torino's with the 460's.
I didn't know you could still get Torinos with 460s that late. They all musta been slowwwww.
