In response to Skunky56 question on 28 jan, about rally pintos. I rallied a 1975 Pinto in the SCCA Pro Rally National & Division Series from the mid 1970's to 1990. I had to modify it by adding a 8 point roll cage, harnesses, a 2.3 CC engine that was bored 90 over, a 3/4 Crane race cam, Offenhouser duel port intake, 500 cfm holley with 2 primaries, monza headers, swapped out the standard axle & rear for a 8 3/4 inch rear from a mustang, Bilstein gas shocks, 6 CIBIE driving light, Mallory duel point ignition with points, Navigation equipment, a diamond plate skid plate under the engine and gas tank. the car finished approx 75% plus of the events entered, and won in it's class in 2 divisional rallies. You mention a tube bumper with fog lights, don't need to do that the standard bumper is very strong and provides a good ground for the lights. You do need to add a heavy alternator to power the lights. You don't want to put all terrain type tire on it, they are to heavy. I used BFG Trailmaker mud and snow tire (175R80x13) of BFG competition radial with extra grooves cut into them. If you are series about building a rally car let me know.
Pictures or it did not happen.
just kidding, but would love to see some pictures.

Sorry, "Something Went Wrong"!!
since facebook has a problem with the link, at this time, you can find them on Bill Beadling's page.........also if you ever see the move produced by Jaguar Rover Triump in the mid 1970's about the SCCA Pro rally driver John Buffum called "Buffum & Co., there are at least 3 quick shots of the pinto in a Michigan rally

It is all in the privacy settings for his pictures. If you are not a friend of his or a friend of his, you cannot see them, if you are you can. I created a fan page for my car and use Facebook to hotlink all of my pictures. Better to use their bandwidth than mine is what I figure.
Thanks Pro for the info, yours sure looks cool. I'm starting out driving mine in the desert and we'll see how she goes. I'll keep you informed :welcome:
