Earlier today I made note that my front tire was going soft. This afternoon before leaving, I pulled it into the barn to blow the tire up. Well, for some odd reason, I could not put air into it? All I can figure is the valve stemm must be screwed up? Took her anyways tonight to scouts. First, when the car is cold, the turn signals the fuel gauge and the heater wont work? Once the car warms up, it starts to work? Could this be moisture in the electrical system? Odd. Never have had a vehicle do this before! Then, when loading the scroll saw and stuff into the car after scouts, the rear hatch would not close and latch. Good thing I carried a bungie cord with me. Then after taking a different boy home 30 minutes away from where scouts was, the heater stopped working. Kids were annoying and loud. I have a head ache and I went to relace the one boys laces up(new shoes) and the plastic tip came off. What a night. Anyone have a pistol I can barrow? LOL. No seriously thoug. I am very bumbed out on the pinto tonight!! Oh, forgot to add, when I filled the tank up, it smelled very strong for a while. So I may have a leak. Please stay away from the car with a lighter! LOL. If any one else has had these electrical issues, latch issue or whatever, it would be cool to hear your stories and how you fixed them. I guess tomorrow I will have to pull her into the bard and tinker on the latch. Check the fuses, then maybe test the blower motor. The tire, dont know......... I think its bed time before I blow the house up or something!
latch might need to be greased. Locate where the gas smell is the worst at and look there. Im still figuring out how im going to repair my tank. as for the Electrical, well havent figured that out yet, I hae a new coil, new Dist, new Electronic dist box, and it still doesnt like to start in the mornings or if its cold at all. ( i get weak spark. ) will post when I know what i have to do lol
For some reason, the smell is strongest inside the car, in the back by the spare tire? Yeah, figure the latch should not be much issue? I hasve strong enough spark. Just some things dont work when its cold? Very odd. Trying to procrastinate going outside since it is only 3 degrees out :hypno:
The tank probably has a rust hole on top of the tank.I had one once that had one there.
I agree with Harley, reach up ontop of the gas tank, if it has gas, then this is your problem. I had that same issue when I first bought mine. I sent it out to these guys. http://www.gas-tank.com/ (http://www.gas-tank.com/) they did a good job repairing it. You may have trouble finding a filler neck grommet though, I was lucky and found one on e-bay.
YOU MIGHT TRY PLAYING A COUNTRY MUSIC RECORD BACKWARDS TINKERMAN....WIFE COMES BACK,DOG COMES BACK ALIVE AND YOUR PINTO GETS FIXED. LOL JUST KIDDING HOPE EVERYTHING GETS BETTER.

ROFLMBO!! Well, the trunk was a easy fix. Just had to move the locking plate out further towards the bumper. Movved it too far, but I will change it later. It closes for now! The heater was a easy fix. Put in a new fuse. Tire was a easy fix. Valve stem had ice in it. They took it off, put new gunk around the rim put it back together and its good. However, noted a sway bar end is very loose. As in not attached on the drivers side. So I have to get new ends for it! Any suggestions? Thanks.
Yea life stinks. But owning a Pinto usually makes up for it!
