A very significant 'win' for older car lovers here in California. What's happening in YOUR state?

VERY COOL!
Well, here in Idaho....Last January pre 81 vehicles were announced exempt from all smog check and testing in Ada and Canyon counties. As far as I know, Those are the only two counties that even require any testing of any sort. The rest is just farm land...Prior to last January, not even Canyon county had any testing.
Whew! Alas, my Rodeo may be doomed next year... friggin' environazis! >:(
Here's another link that takes you to a page where you can research 'specialty' car licensing requirements in all 50 states. Even has downloadable forms!

I am unclear about this posting as of Feb 2011. Are smog checks necessary in CA now or not? My '76 passed smog when I bought it with flying colors, only emiting a fraction of the limits. But this year, I renewed without a smog check. They didn't ask for one. Are all Pintos now exempt in CA? ???
no not all pintos are except. smog test is every 2 yrs in ca.if your 75 0r older your almost golden if your newer like my 77 wagon its a fight every 2 years :showback: i think the smog police schould go away and leave our hobby cars alone.fredom for our older cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chris in ca.
According to the state; if the car is 1975 or OLDER no check required in California

BUT (and this is important), legally the emission controls must still be intact and functional.
