Can I use the stock hydro lifters from a 75' 2.3 with a Ranger roller cam and roller followers?
it is a direct swap........ but! if you feel unsure , you can go through the steps to measure the proper clearance after install... measure each valve for clearance by one at a time turning the cam so the lobe on the cam points straight up and collapse the hla(lifter) and measure the distance from the roller to the bottom of the cam lobe... you should see between 40 to 60 thousands any less is too tight any more you need to shim the lifter......
Right on! I'll move forward with the project, thank you.
just a quick note on that cam, you can use any roller cam from any of the 2.3 rangers but after 93? the followers changed to a smaller valve stem so they wont work on our heads.... you need 93 and earlier for the 11/32nd stem not the 7mm
